Extensive reconstruction of the car park

The car park was put into operation in 1996. It was completely renovated in 2017. The unsuitable cobblestone paved surface was completely replaced with the granite pavement, new lamps illuminating the entire area of the parking lot and a parking system with barriers and with a variable payment method for parking were installed. The car park is located in the place where the Olomouc Synagogue stood between 1897 and 1939. The Synagogue was built in Oriental-Moorish style according to the plans of the prominent architect Jakob Gartner. Immediately after occupation of Czechoslovakia, the Synagogue was set on fire by local fanatical fascists. In 1955, a monument of Lenin and Stalin was installed in place of the demolished Synagogue. This monument was removed in January 1990. A memorial plaque has been installed on the adjacent building of the Faculty of Science.
